A bright, exuberant palette defines Shara Hughes’s painting practice, which ranges from kaleidoscopic landscapes to intricately detailed interior scenes. The work of Hughes who has confessed that “I think that nature reflects emotions in so many ways”, is known for her psychologically-charged tableaus that border on abstraction. After her participation in the 2017 Whitney Biennial, she has received favorable reviews from critics and public steadily, and is quickly becoming a formidable force within a new generation of forward-thinking painters.
